Joint Services Command

Chaplains are being recruited by the United States Volunteers Joint Services Command - National Headquarters Long Beach, CA to serve in 50 states.

Chaplain (MG) Stephen Kirtley is the National Chaplains Commander. He served 30 years as an US Army Chaplain and now has added another 7 years with USV-JSC. He is Director of Chaplains Programs at Promise Christian University.

As more and more trained final honor units comprised of retired military and volunteer civilians are being trained by DoD through the AP3 program, the need for at least one chaplain per national cemetery is becoming more and more important.

If you are a retired and/or an active ordained pastor, and you hold a Bachelors with more than 5 years of experience you may qualify to serve as a Chaplain on this particular team. You are not active military and you will not be called to active duty. And you will not be paid. It is entirely a voluntary service to our nation's veterans.

If you are a retired military Chaplain and would like to continue to do the work of a Chaplain as a volunteer at our nation's national cemeteries and have the time, and the passion to assist in training final honors units - we especially want you!

Chaplains serve with the Final Honors Team and go through the same training.

Through Promise Christian University (New program starting September 24 in Pasadena 9a.m. to 4 pm.) you can be certified or through any other University that offers a Chaplaincy program. Once certified and qualified you can join the USV-JSC Chaplain Corps and continue training.

There is no age limit. If you are able bodied and fit enough to spend one day a month participating in military honors at your local national cemetery that is the minimum requirement.

USV-JSC (United States Volunteers - Joint Services Command) is composed of retired US military service members from all services including many naturalized citizens who served as allies with USA in previous conflicts. USV-JSC Members must be citizens or permanent residents.

Our nation needs trained volunteer citizens to be available to conduct "boots on graves," final military honors to the thousands of veterans who are passing away each day -- some without so much as a hand salute for their service. Also through the Medical Corps Reserve we need medical personnel for disaster and emergency preparedness.

USV-JSC is determined to formulate an honors team in every state and at every national cemetery with at least one Chaplain.
